Pining for that 'Old America'

So I see that Peggy Noonan is harkening us back to the days of "Old America" -- as a way of contrasting that heathen Barack Obama with the noble John McCain.

But if McCain represents "Old America" of the Magic Dolphin Lady's fevered imagination -- that nonexisent golden yesteryear of right-wing myth -- then he must logically also symbolize the "Old America" of historical reality:




















I'm not so sure that Noonan isn't pining for this 'Old America' too.
